on the dash our PHV shows a jan 2011 date, but we haven't figured out how to update this. Help please.
It's a somewhat convoluted procedure that uses both the settings on your Nav screen and the little pushbutton timer clock on the dash. I had to do this myself today - it's not hard to find specific instructions in the manual. Somehow, my clock was set to Eastern Standard Time.
Check out page 275 of the Owners Manual (Link to PDFs are in this forums Sticky section) This is to change the date on the multifunction display. Here are the instructions: Press the “DISP†button until the “SETTINGS†screen appears. Calendar will be displayed. While the vehicle is stopped, press and hold the “DISP†button until the screen changes. The selected item will change each time the “DISP†button is pressed. Select “CALENDARâ€. Press and hold the “DISP†button to enter the setting mode. Select the date by pressing the “DISP†or “TRIP†button. Press and hold the button to change the date continuously. If neither button is operated for approximately 5 seconds, the setting will be changed and the screen will return to the previous display.
Yep mine was the same way. Set to Eastern, and the date was off. The disp button can be finicky but it can be done. It does not reset any data you already have (it changes the month to April from Jan).
Mine was as well. I didn't have a problem finding how to update it (I have the electronic manuals loaded on my Kindle, so I can search!) but figuring out how to set the time was a bugger!! Apparently I was assuming it was more complicated than it was... Just use the hour and minute buttons next to the charge timer. Why we can't set date and time via the touch screen, I have no idea.
Somewhere in the manual I read that each clock has be set separately. Most likely an artifact of the way that the systems have been integrated.
Hmmm, We just have a regular Kindle, not the fire, I wonder if we can do that.... Where did you find the manual to load on your Kindle Sandiegomom?
You can download them from Toyota's website, but they break it into small sections. I combined and bookmarked them here: http://priuschat.com/forums/toyota-prius-plug-in/103349-owners-manual-pip-out-3.html#post1468408
Yes, I used yours. Thank you! I just have a regular kindle from a few years ago. I emailed the PDF files to my kindle's email address (listed on your manage kindle page on amazon) and they load when you connect to wifi.
