I bought a leftover 2011 prius and have less than 3000 miles. The front rotors have big ridges in both left an right but the rears are smooth as a baby's butt. Anyone else as I do not think this is right. Eddy
Shouldn't have noticeable ridges I wouldn't think @ 3k but I guess it all depends on how it was taken care of. Mine don't @ 31k.
Because it was a leftover, the brake rotors most likely accumulated some rust while the car was on the lot. The surface finish will likely improve with normal wear. Dealer may not consider this a defect.
True. So there has to more to this if it is a rust issue -- like the orientation during transport or storage.
Mine was a leftover, too. Built 10/2011 and bought 3/19/2012. Mine had 50 miles on it (@ 24 mpg =:-0 ) and the brake rotors were pretty ugly at first. I'm at 2000 miles and they're getting better. If the brake feel ok in use I wouldn't sweat it.
