Does anybody have the old gym sock smell come out of the ac ducts after you use the ac and then get in the car the next morning
Air conditioner-related smell is pretty common in all cars, isn't it? Unless I've only been in particularly smelly cars.
I think I'd have the cabin air filter checked. That doesn't sound right. In no automobile I've ever had, has the AC ever "smelled" and we used ours in the Prius today. Deb
Gary (my DH) just told me that he read in the manual to be sure the AC "air re-circulate" button off while the car is parked, so it doesn't get a "funky" smell. Deb
I had that problem. I fixed it by turning off the ac and just blowing air through the system the last 30 seconds or so before i shut the car down.
I have not had the musty smell from my AC but I do the same after reading about it on PC. It makes sense to either be sure to change from recirculate to fresh air or turn off AC and let fresh air blow across the inside coils so as not to leave condensation in the air ducts.
+1 - When we bought our Fit - they told us to always go to "outside air" or vent a couple minutes before you shut down the A/C. Don't leave it on recirculate all the time. But you ain't lived till your A/C dies with clunking sound. After it started to smell - I took it in and they pull what's left of a mouse out of the squirrel cage fan. Replaced fan but the stink lasted for months - no one would ride with me.
