i have been reserching 3 pairs Garage pro make shure all conections are correct before allowing you start these are garage pro smart cables . Next are the next are just called smart cables they make sure you get the connections right and plug together in the middle so you can be safer I thought they were supposed to keep me safe. Bothe of these run around forty or fifty bucks. Last pair the last are the power safe cables not only do they make certain all connections are right but they prevent power spikes at around 500. Bucks it's tough decision these are made primarily for pros but if they save me one component on any car I own they pay for themselves they also warn hybrid owners to follow the manufactures jump start procedure or damage may occur if your battery is below 3 volts

    Thanks
    Jen

I wouldn't spend money like that, when all you have to do is learn how to correctly attach jumper cables. If you're going to put money into it, but a battery charger or tender. The Prius 12V battery is very small and charges quickly, because it doesn't power a starter motor, just the low voltage electronics.

For $50 you can buy a jump box that has the smart feature plus a battery.

Just as an aside: My wife used to think that there was something physically different about red wire that allowed it to be positive, and black wire for it to be negative. I had to tell her that it was only convention.

It makes complete sense, but to an EE it's pretty amusing.

And I tell the network installers "The electrons can't actually tell what colors the insulation is, we follow the standard for humans, not for electrons. My 'smart cables' are blue, both of them. In my gut, I still wish one was red and one black, even though the cables can reverse polarity.
