I have just noticed that the Inverter coolant pump runs not only with the car in the READY mode which seems normal ---- but it also runs continuously with the car in the ACC mode (press the power button twice without pressing the brake----amber light on power button---car not powered up). Is this normal? I never noticed the HUM of the pump before with the car not powered up before? Tom
hmmmm... that's not right. it shouldn't be running for more than 10 sec or so. ours won't run at all in ACC mode... at least when he ran out and checked just now. notice any other problems? mileage still okay? where in ENC are you? DH works at a dealer in Durham. well anyway, when you bring it in, ask to talk to the top Prius Tech. ask the guy if he's familiar with the schedule of when that pump is supposed to be running. show him yourself what it's doing. sounds like it needs to be looked at. good luck to you, let us know how it turns out.
and do it before it burns out and they say no sound is normal. If it's not making any noise by the time your at the dealer get the tech to hook up the THHT
HI Tom, I was having the same issue on a 07 prius and finally the pump died. I put a new one in there and the same thing is happening which is the pump running not only in ready times but while driving it. It makes a noise like it is running.... How did you fix your? thx!
Hello new member. This thread is from 2005 and the member you are asking has not logged in for 11 1/2 years. Your probably not going to get an answer from him. And yes the inverter pump runs when the car is in ACC mode. That’s normal.
The mode described above as two presses of the power button is called IG-ON mode and yes, the inverter pump runs in IG-ON as the inverter is active. ACC mode is one press with the foot off the brake. The inverter is not active in ACC mode, so the inverter coolant pump does not run either.
