My 2005 Prius has a frozen touch screen: just on the climate page. At first it would go to HIGH when I pressed low, etc...but now it is just frozen on AC auto (thank goodness the ac works). My dealer told me the the whole system must be replaced at a cost of $1600! I have less than 50K on the car and am greatly disappointed. Any ideas out there?
Could it be a button is stuck like you are holding it in? Did you try disconnecting the 12V ground connection for like an hour>?
Perhaps you're hitting MFD issues on '04/'05 Prius | PriusChat Prius MFD is a possible fix. IIRC, there are a folks here who'd be willing to perform the repair for WAY less than $1600. IIRC, you might be able get a remanufactured/refurb for ~$500. Side question: Although I don't know of this being a symptom, are you still on the original 12 volt? If so, it's toast. It needs replacement. Weird stuff happening? MPGs dropping? Test The Battery | PriusChat is a way to check your 12 volt after the car has sat MANY hours or overnight. Let us know the voltages at each step.
Again, if you're on the original 12 volt. It's toast. Replace it. edit: Whoops... our posts crossed paths. BTW, where are you located? Help! MFD gone BLANK! | PriusChat lists a couple repair choices.
Well if you have a multimeter and you are disconnecting it anyways, you might want to measure the voltage. And then measure it with the headlights on in ACC mode. It would rule out one more thing, but is likely a bad board.
I am in South Carolina. The car is garaged and not left out in the sun. Also, no accidents or other damage. Thanks for the repair choices link.
