Today, I made my first 2 trips using HV mode only. On trip number 1 to my daughter's house I drove mostly four-lane roads with the average speed of 45 MPH and then on the highway for about 6 miles. The total trip was about 25 miles. When I got there it said I got 68 miles per gallon!

On the return trip, again in HV mode, I took the highway the entire way and the travel event was about 28 miles and the mileage readout was 62 miles per gallon! I have to say that I'm quite pleased as both of these numbers are well above the EPA estimates.

why is what? why is it above epa estimates? because epa test is done in the lab, if they test at all.

From one of his posts it seems he may have one already and just never update his profile. It was on a thread about putting new rims on a PiP.

Some people sign up just to do research without asking questions. Maybe he signed up years ago to do just that and just now decided to buy? I do not know lol

perhaps the question is: why are you impressed?

  10. Now Bisco, don't get on the OPs case. He said he was impressed with mileage and performance. I am agreeable with that plus about 85 other things.

not my question, my guess as to the question in post #2.:) op should be and is thrilled, as are most of us.

  12. Post 2 is sort of an empty space, not at all like a real Joey.

it's better for some and worse for others. all depends on how you drive, what the terrain and climate are like. epa can't know any of those things.

I guess my point is, does the pip get better mpg's in HV than a regular Prius? Your constantly regenerating to a better battery pack I would assume. But if that is the case, you would think the EPA rating would be better. I know that with my driving, assuming I charge with 240v ( 1 1/2 hour charge ). I should expect to go about 1000 miles per fill up.

  18. Depends on terrain, speed, etc. Right now on my Monthly consumption, Sept is showing 200 mpg. That will most certainly drop. 200 mpg represents all electric. For 4 days.

this is where the lack of actual epa testing comes into play. i get 10% better than gen II.
