I have a 2005 prius. The low beam bulb on the passenger side had a flash the other day and wouldn't be turned on any more. I changed bulb, fuse. It still doesn't work. The high beam on this side and the low and high beam on the other side are fine. I noticed the socket to this bulb is kind of fried. I check the voltage. It shows zero. The dealer told me, they will change the whole circuit harness to fix it and costs $4000 at least. Any suggestions?
The connector on the end of the loom can be replaced easily with one from a breakers yard it does not have to be from a Prius as most cars are fitted with the same bulb connector (H4) the wires can be spliced.
If the problem is with the connector for the headlight you need to star away from that dealership. Toyota is very good with supplying replacement connectors. Shame on any dealership that wants to replace a whole harness when the issue is a connector. Not that this is the problem here, but lets find out. In order to help, we need to know what type of headlights you have (halogen or HID). Also ,posting pictures of the problem would be fabulous. Avi
The OP has double posted this topic in the main forum and he has replaced the connector with one from autozone so I would believe he has halogen lamps as the main beam is working.
