MFD = mileage from display? FCD = fuel consumption display? These are the same and are the reading on the display from the trip mpg that you reset when you fill the tank. Correct?
MFD typically stands for Multi-Function Display and refers to the Instrument Panel on the Gen III's. Not sure about FCD.
I thought MFD (Multi Function Display) is for the Gen II (2004-09), MID (Multi Information Display) is for the Gen III(2010-~). The nav screen in the Gen III is now, just a nav screen lol. Yeah, 2012s can do more than the 2010/11 on the nav screen but with the MID on top I'd still just refer to the nav screen as the nav screen.
Thanks! I really needed that. Then there is the definition of "Consumption". Per the dictionary "The using up of a resource". I would expect that to be how much gas was used but, of course, that isn't very interesting in this application. So, for Prius, it means miles per gallon. So it is actually "rate of consumption" where the dimension for rate is distance.
For the rest of the world, fuel economy is expressed L/100km. The word "consumption" is correct there. I suspect they just carried over the translation. A better word would probably be ECON for economy.
I don't think the UK definition of Consumption means "rate of use" it just means "use". See consumption - definition of consumption by Macmillan Dictionary The translation problem may have been from Japanese
I can understand the CONS for L/100km, but ECON doesn't tell you squat! How about MPGs? After all that's what it is, good, bad or indifferent.
Except that most of the world drives kilometers and buys by the liter or litre although some consume Imperial gallons (and pints). David, BTW, the only dumb question is the one not asked.
