if they are showing 16kw, perhaps 2.7 is not correct?

the PIP's usable battery capacity is 2.7 kw. The Nissan Leaf is closer to the PIP"s curb weight. You can enter your own battery capacity and curb weight on each car

if it's 2.7, why does the ratio screen say 3?

my Kill A Watt say's 3.0kwh but usable kw of the battery is 2.7kw due to charging losses (heat)

interesting. i could have sworn others said 3kw and 3.3 due to losses.

80% of 4kw is 3.2kw SOC assuming no resistance of the wires to motor.

Battery efficiency can take a major hit is cold temps and those days are on their way. Once folks here on PC that live in the super frosty winter areas start reporting EV ranges in January - I suspect some of the Prius newbies will really start to worry. But it's all part of the 'YRMV'.
Like all things electric . . . times a changin' - and for the better. The good folks at Milwaukee now have a 12v heated jacket. I'm going to try it out!

Took an EV trip today, 41 degrees on the temperature guage. With full charge (EV 12.6) my trip odo topped out at 9.2 miles when ICE kicked in. Can't wait for summertime again. But on the plus side, average MPG was 190MPG, not bad. Total miles of trip was 10.6 miles

guess it's going to be a frustrating winter if we don't concentrate on mpg's instead of mpkw's.

lucky for me I'm only 2.7 miles from work, hopefully the range can give me at least 6 miles, that's all I'm asking.

The Volt (Ampera) has a 16kWh battery (raw) but the my2012 has 10.4kWh available to the user. The my2013 has a bit more when they introduced a enhancement to the battery chemistry.

thanks. it makes me wonder if we're comparing apples to apples when changing 16kwh ampera to 2.7kwh prius.

I think PriusKitty has been using the Leaf as a starting point, and adjusting the kWh and curb weight to match the PiP. Someone needs to add the PiP to the inventory of vehicles in the tool.
