So I noticed that since day 1, whenever I close the door (both driver/passenger side), part of the door rattles, almost like it reverberates. It makes the car feel really cheap, and find it hard to believe that this is normal, since I never heard this with any other Toyota. I'm not sure if it is the window rattling, or the window frame. Are you guys experiencing this as well?
When you close the door from the outside, keep you hand on the black molding at the rear of the door window and you shouldn't hear the rattle.
Yea but between being a fingerprint magnet, and being more prone to jamming your finger in there, not sure if that's a good idea. I mostly concerned that something isn't properly installed, but I'll learn to live with it.
I find you don't need to exert much effort when closing the doors, just a firm tug or push. Sometimes I'll have people riding with me that have to "slam" the door getting in and out, and then it will sound a bit "tinny". Of course, when they treat my car with disrespect, they're not invited to ride with me again!
If you put some sound deadening material (like Dynamat) on the outer door skins, it will make a HUGE difference. My Prius owning friends ALL notice my doors sound and feel different when closed. There are quite a few threads about it in the Accessories and Mods forum.
I'd love to Dynamat the car, but it's just a Lease, so not really worth the investment. I also think the problem is with the top part of the door (the black frame which holds glass), which can't 'stuffed'.
