Maintenance on Navigation not free part of maintenance agreement

    Anyone know why I am gettin an email asking for $ to get an update for my Navigation system. Entunes was upgraded .... it is not a subsciber service like the satellite radio ... it is part of the car. The latest updates provides more gase stations and resteraunts so I really don't care that much but it seems to me Toyota should not be asking for any $ for a maintenance item on a car 7 months old ...

    Toyota updates the maps for the GPS portion of the Nav units every year. You do not have to purchase these updates if you do not want to. This is not considered a maintenance function.

    Yep. I've never heard of maintenance agreements including navigation system updates.

    You pay big bucks for the car and they ask for more money to update the Nav database. You can go buy a two to three hundred dollar Garmin GPS and they give you free updates for life.

    In almost 3 years I haven't been solicited for a nav upgrade.

    I have received the emails announcing the availability of the GPS map udpates each year about this time.
