im glad we are the on the same page. lately, im gettting more dissatisfied with my light/lumen from the hid kit. Or maybe because its from one headlight only. would a retrofit be the next step?
I just noticed that they now list the 2010+ Prius under the Retro-Quick System. I was going to hold on the mod, but the sale makes this very tempting at $225 before shipping. How are the Morimoto H1 ballasts and bulbs? Will these have the ground shadow issue? Would you buy the complete kit or buy ballasts and bulbs elsewhere (e.g. xenondepot)? Is there anything else I would need for the install, like shrouds?
The retro-quick system has everything needed for the install. The OEM headlights already have a shroud so that won't be needed. I know that the morimoto H11 bulbs had the wrong orientation so when they were installed they were upside down. I'm not sure if that issue was ever resolved. I'm using the morimoto H11 bulbs & the ground shadow was there but didn't bother me that much. As for their ballasts, I'm sure they are good......I just have never used them.
This kit looks like you just bolt on. I'm assuming it has everything and since we are not using our stock prius projectors I don't think we need to be worried about ground shadows. My question, which might be pretty dumb is would we need to bake the headlights to remove the existing projectors and bold on the Retro-quick system?
