so i was listening to the radio in Acc mode, while waiting for someone, and the radio turned off automatically after ~15min with a warning message. (i guess dvd player would also do the same) in the future, i need to actually start the car to listen longer right?
You when you have a fully charged EV battery you can use your radio in "READY" mode and you won't get that message
i didn't have full EV charge. if i did have a full charge, could i watch a 2hr dvd out of it? a very expensive dvd player!!
You would be able to monitor your battery level by viewing EV. it will go down in miles while connected to your DVD
I do not know about that. I've sat in the car in ready mode and the miles do drop, albeit slowly. I'm sure keeping everything energized and ready to go does result in some additional draws.
Yeah, I have a ScangaugeII which has a battery voltage reading, when I turn off my car the ScangaugeII stays on for a few seconds and shows me the actual 12 volt battery voltage (12.9 volts) when in READY mode the battery voltage reads 14.9 volts
Yes, but that is not telling you how much current the car uses when sitting idle in Ready mode vs in ACC. The difference in voltage is based on how the car (designers) chose to float the 12v battery to be continually recharged from the traction. More than most people want to know: A single device, or battery will read a lower voltage under a higher load. The slope of this curve is part of each specific battery design. But when there are two or more devices (batteries, battery+generator, etc) the voltage reading is based mostly on a controller setpoint in the system, which also has some designed slope to it, but it isn't comparable to the single device/battery load-voltage curve. IIRC, you can get voltages on GenII if you put the car in diag mode. Correct? If so, does anyone know if the PIP can do this?
