So i have an iPhone 5, and an currently seeking a way to do playback in my car. Right now I'm using the 3.5mm headphone jack but I have to crank up the stereo to 25+ on the freeway to get a decent volume so i want to use the line level signal from the lightning port. I have the non-nav JBL audio system and was wondering if there was a way to either install a USB port for audio, or another alternative to connect the iphone. I can't seem to find a solid answer. Thanks!
well, I bought (from Amazon, I believe) an adaptor that both charged and received audio via the 30 pin connector (it's an iPhone 4). So, it's actually "line level" from the phone.
You can possibly put in the Vaistech SL3i iPod/iPhone integration unit, but I don't know if it's been updated to work with the iPhone 5 yet (with Lightning to 30-pin adapter). You might want to email Eugene at [email protected] I've installed Vaistech in a couple of Lexus.
Have you tried increasing the volume on the iPhone? With the pre-lightning port iPhones, there were adapters sold that allowed you to use the line level signal connected to a 3.5mm plug, but I'm not sure if any are available for the lightning port yet. You might want to search the web, including places like Belkin, Monster Cable, etc.
It's up all the way. I have a 30 pin to 3.5mm cable that I used with an old iPod and that worked great. I know they sell lightning to 30 pin, so i'd have to go from that to 30 pin to 3.5mm. Gotta love the daisy chaining!!
