it started last nite bin driving in normal mode with no probs and getting a reasonable 57mpg . now it feels like the brake is sticking you go to pull off and it wants more pedal than normal then when you get it up to speed it feels like its pulling back? then you take ya foot of the accelerater its not coasting very well just stats dropping speed instantly just feels like a brake is bliding but the e brake if that makes any sence? gen 3 1.8 59 plate 67k any one have this or know anything about it
Since the friction brakes are used so sparingly rust can be a problem. Try putting your car in neutral when ready to brake. This will disable the HV battery and thus regen braking and force the friction brakes. This will help wipe the rotors and remove any rust, etc. Try this a few times and see if this helps.
Moved to the proper Gen III forum from the Prius v forum since the OP shows he has a liftback in his profile.
no its not in b its in drive all the time . still doing it now drove 50miles and it just feels like its being held back as soon as you take off accel it just starts dropping and it feels like its in b, but its not
Sounds crazy, but check your floormats are not holding the brake pedal down, the return spring is not very strong. I experienced this and only realised when the brake pedal sprung back up and slapped the sole of my shoe (non-standard mats over the proper ones).
Is there a noticable difference decellerating shifting between "N" and "D"? - If regenerative braking is involved, shifting into "N" defeates it. But if there is no noticable change, I would check wheel alignment, brake calipers, tire inflation, bearings, and transaxle lubricant. Suggestion of excessive regeneration? - The brake-light switch might need adjustment as it may signal a partial pedal depression. I would look at the regeneration bar and if small, no problem, but if it is thicker than the line it abutts, I would want to find out why. Regardless, please let us know what you find. Bob Wilson
im not sure the service book says 60k but when i phoned up to check the service history she said the hybid parts where up 100k its going in for the 70k service soon so ill have to get them to check. the problem with these is it always need to go back to the main dealer if you do have a prob with the hybrid parts
I'd jack up the rear and spin the rear wheels, if they don't I'd suspect the parking brake, which I do, cycle it on and off a few times anyway, if it's not in any way related to the rear brakes I'd consider the egr valve, or, get ready... the 12v battery, I'd also go to the dealer before an aftermarket shop for this particular problem.
