we just got back from florida, i left my pip with an empty ev battery in our unheated attached garage for a month with no trickle charger. everything was fine when we got back but two interesting things happened. the brakes had rusted much worse than my 04 or 08 ever did, and when i plugged it in to charge, it took a long time for the charge light to come on. maybe 30-60 seconds vs the usual 3-5 seconds or so.
Your 04 and 08 would have had drum brakes in the rear so part of the effect is two more disk rotors in play.
Dude, I just got back from Orlando myself (and family). Pretty darn cool down there I must say. But it was warmer than Alaska!
good point, i didn't think of that. i'm still trying to wear it off. did you fly? as cold as it was at times, i would gladly still be there! nothing here for the next couple weeks but cold.
Of course we flew. It would have taken the entire week we were on vacation to drive that far. For us Alaskans, that temp was just right. We also visited St. Augustine for a day. Neat place.
t-shirt and shorts the whole time, what's to complain about? what's in st. augustine, history? beaches?
Only the oldest continuously occupied European-established settlement and port in the continental United States. They also have a really kwel alligator farm with just about every crock and gator known to man. There was a couple of times I wished I wasn't in short in the morning hours standing in the lines at Universal Studios. It was pretty breezy too.
yup, we had a few days like that. our day at harry potter was pretty nice tho. i'd rather be cool than standing in line for an hour in 90 degree sun.
left my prius this morning for this years florida trip. original 12v measured 12.69 last night and 12.67 this morning. we get home on 03/25 for the big test
You already know you should keep it plugged in if you want it to start when you get home. If it was a non-plugin I'd say leave a trickle charger on it.
your supposed to drain the plug in charge before leaving it for long periods of time, not plug it in. i'm experimenting with the 12v for the benefit of science
A full plug-in charge stops at 80%, so I wouldn't worry about leaving it plugged in any more than I'd worry about leaving an unused household appliance plugged in. Sure, there's an extremely remote chance of something really goofy happening, but in real life you just don't see problems, unless it's someone tripping over the wire..
The ride was fabricated at a shop I worked for. I mostly was checking but they needed an old-school layout of all the plate along the track, and part drawings of each plate (400 plus?), so you-know-who was signed up.
I’ll bet if you plug it in for an hour or so when you get home, before you push the button, you’ll be fine
Ah science. You’re not going to run it out of gas in the name of science. Safe travels to the eastern happiest place on earth .
agreed. i'll check the voltage first, then plug in i'm not that smart. i'd rather follow toyota's recommendations you do realize that leaving it plugged in does not keep the 12v charged? i went on one ride and felt sick the rest of the day
