Filled up my gas and reset trip before my trip home today. OMG this is the first time I saw 70mpg (besides the cheating local 99.9mpg trips). As you can see from my fuelly I average high 40s through the winter. I cannot imagine what I'll get when the weather hits 70s and 80s here. Today is still only 50s, with aftermarket 17" and non-LRR tires 70% highway, I am so excited!!!
Your not alone, down here in Oregon Spring is with us at least for the last few days. MPG's have gone up to about 51 MPG from 45-47 MPG calculated of course. Even with temps in the mid 50's to 60's with dry roads MPG's go up at least 5-7 mpg over rain in the 40's.....
I like Oregon weather better, same mild weather with a little bit less rain, minus the taxes of Cali. If only they had a base there. I told myself I would at least hyper-mile one tank, now is not the time yet. Temps go from 30s in the mornings to high 60s in the afternoon. And of course it would rain every other day. I'll wait till the 2 weeks of true Summer to get a personal record tank, hopefully I can get over 600 miles. I've never let my gas go under 1/3, but I'll try it once with a mini 1 gallon gas tank in the trunk
Still waiting for spring, we have not had anything over 49 degrees f for a high yet, low 20's in mornings and highs of low to mid 40's. Suppose to get 60 degrees Friday, here's keeping my fingers crossed that spring weather temps are finally hear to stay.
We can't have it all I guess, is never dry, wet, hot or cold enough. Hated the blizzards in the Northeast, and missed skiing when I was in Texas. We are never satisfied, is in the DNA.
Do you garage your Prius in the winter? I don't see the car handling well in deep snow even with right tire, plus everyone here said the battery is inefficient in extreme cold.
Yes it is in a heated 45 degees f gargage, Have not had a problem in the snow or ice even in 6-8 inches of snow it just goes right thru it. You do have to be careful at intersections if plows have been by and left drifts, use common sense. yes! the battery does loose some battery power, in winter time about 10-11 all EV. Summer time about 15 miles of all EV.
I drove a loaner PIP when my car was in the shop 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure if it is the extra 200 Ibs, but the PIP seems more stable (feels alot heavier and bigger in a good way) than the stock Base model on 15" It also maintain EV @ 43mph better than the base. It felt faster too (maybe I wasn't babying it, since it is a rental )
