I'm looking to purchase a scantool. I'd like to not only read codes but to remove them after a repair. I don't want a cheapy but I also don't want to go overboard. What are some of your favorites and why? Also, I'm sure that it's way too much to ask that it be compatible with a Mac.
About the best advice I can give is somewhat at odds with your request. A "Mini VCI" off Ebay will do all you require and more including brake bleeding/flushing, brake actuator calibration, battery module voltages and resistance, Steering zero point calibration, and so much more. The Mini VCI comes with Techstream software " the software the dealers use". The down side to this as far as your request goes is that it costs about $25 "no that is not a type error". While you are on eBay, get an old Windows XP netbook for not much $$, and dedicate it to running the software. Don't worry about software updates and all that, it does not need to be on the network.
Both are great points and since I want to bleed my brakes soon, it looks like the Mini VCI and a notebook with a CD/DVD drive are the way to go. Thanks!!
