All of the plug-supplied electricity can be used this way. It is simply the hybrid system taking advantage of having lots of battery-capacity available. Notice how it is indicated on the screen, the EV symbol is present but not illuminated: For those unfamiliar with the term, EV-BOOST mode is what happens while you are traveling at speeds beyond the 62 mph (100 km/h) electric-only limit. It also occurs while the cold engine is warming up. In both situations, much greater electricity is used while combustion is taking place. On the instant MPG gauge, you'll typically see the value at 100. Using aftermarket device, you'll see the MPG is actually much higher. Also, unless your trip is short, it's typically better not to use EV-BOOST. Save the electricity for later. That's because the HV mode is so efficient anyway. But then again, +100 MPG is still much nicer than 55 MPG.
I thought you meant duration or capacity, not a specific quantity of minutes. There's no way to answer the minute question anyway. It varies significantly based on both outside temperature and battery temperature. I suppose I could try to get an estimate, based on samples from short stretches... since there's no such thing as a flat highway long enough in these parts.
If 5kW PHV battery power is blended, 2.7 kWh full usable pack will last about 32 mins. In 32 mins, if you are going 65 mph, that will cover about 35 miles.
With a full charge I only get about 10 miles or so in blended mode at 65mph. I'll check it again but I swear it is approx. the same distance I get if driving at 60mph in EV mode on the same exact stretch of highway (flat). This assumes I hit the highway with 10miles of EV range estimated.
Pretty much. But I have been running in full EV mostly now as that is how I get my best mileage AND be because blended mode doesn't register as EV miles. I have to go to an event tomorrow so I'll check to see how far I get in blended mode.
My calculation is 5kW constant and assumed ICE is warmed up and you are already doing 65 mph. If you need to get up to speed or assist ICE during the warm up, it aint gonna be 5 kW draw.
