That is a fantastic time of the year, should be dry and sunny. Hopefully no forest fires while you are here. Feel free to PM me while in Anchorage... perhaps a chat over a soda.
Prowess you have, interest perhaps. Maybe you can search for a photo that you like and upload it in your settings.
In 2013, when the Nenana ice-out date was at the late end of the distribution, it was deemed important by WUWT and our Mojo. In 2014, when the Nenana ice-out date was at the early end of the distribution, it was not. Wow.
It might have been mojo who reminded us that US lower 48 states represents a small fraction of the global surface, when something wasn't going 'his way'. Or maybe it wasn't but choosing certain times or certain areas deserves some justification. One justification can be found of course because a lot of people do live in CONUS including most Prius chatters. A real analysis of CONUS temperatures, with real statistics can be found in a publication titled Uncertainties, Trends, and Hottest and Coldest Years of U.S. Surface Air Temperature since 1895: An Update Based on the USHCN V2 TOB Data" easy to find your free copy via google scholar etc. I'm not going to tell you the results. Nor did James Taylor in Forbes but there I guess our similarity ends.
Alaska's Nenana Ice Classic has recorded its earliest ever date, 2019 April 14. A chart of entire history is at: RealClimate I've not bumped this since 2016 but link shows intervening years have not fueled anybodys' fires in particular. 2019 might, as 2013 certainly did.
