I picked up a 2002 Prius with 164k, still on original battery. It giving code P3030 which evidently relates to a high voltage line snapped on the bus bar. I've rebuilt a few of these batteries, one on my personal car which is a 2006 Prius and it's held up for almost one year/11k miles and still going fine. This is my first 'surgery' on a Gen 1 and upon removal of the battery I found lots of corrosion on the bus bar. I found the part number I need, 82165-47030 which is for a new battery harness. My question is simple: Do I need one or two of those? There is a battery harness (bus bar)on each side so I'm guessing two but maybe two come per package. I'm set to order online but not sure of the quantity I need. Thanks
Ok thanks. It seems both sides have some corrosion, is there anything I should do on the other side to try and remove the corrosion?
Yes ,soak both sides in white vinegar. Than take a little wire wheel and brush them off. They look brand new.. Be sure to use gloves as this stuff is NASTY...
I soaked them in vinegar and got them cleaned up real good but how to I remove the corrosion from around the battery terminals? I'm thinking if I wire brush those, I may get some sparks.
