A fantastic final round of 66 at Muirfield gave Phil Mickelson a well deserved win in The Open Championship
round of the century. tiger and westwood left scratching their heads. not bad for an old fart with arthritus.
not to take anything away from phil, but you have to wonder if putting those greens is as much luck as it is skill?
I'd have to agree and in many ways the speed of the greens and the way the bunkers seemed to suck the balls in sort of detracted from the spectator enjoyment a little
After just missing another opportunity at the recent US Open it was especially sweet to see Phil come back and win the British. He is such a class act.
i prefer to watch amazing shots being made. it can happen at the open when conditions are right. iirc, the last time tiger won, he was running the ball on the ground most of the time and stopping it right near the hole.
Phil lives in Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego. He is a local sports celebrity. Very popular. His tax comments set a few people aback, but he was quick to recover. it's a whole 'nuther world, but he's an entertainer. i only wish i had that kinda money to worry about. phil's probably lost more gambling than i've made in a lifetime. he has a right to political opinions as much as anyone else, but you're right, pr is the name of the game in his position.
