Hi all, I'm new here and can't seem to find any threads relating to what people purchased their Prius C models for in Canada (Ontario specifically). I am being quoted $25,000 after all taxes and fees are included. It seems a bit steep compared to what Americans pay but I know our taxes/levies etc. are higher. Is this a good price?
Are you buying it outright or doing the 1.99% APR financing? I bought my 2013 Two for I believe closer to $24,000 after all taxes and fees, but that was before APR financing.
Thanks for the reply! I've only asked for the out the door price but I did specify that I would be financing for 60-72 months, so that must be after financing (which is 2.9%). I've seen prices here of $22000 and $23000 and I'm really wondering if the difference should be that significant. Did you finance or pay cash? The price on the Toyota website is still 25k+ even for an all cash deal.
No wait, that is the price pre-financing. After I calculate what I will have paid after my last payment, it is 2k+ more because of interest.
Hi KD, I financed with zero down, and my payments are $430/mth over 60 months. However that was with 1.99% in Ottawa about a month ago. At the time, using those same parameters on Toyota's website gave me a $464/mth quote. So I think you still maybe have a little bit of wiggle room. Are you sure your rate being offered is 2.99% and not 1.99%? I don't really know how the rates work (this was my first car purchase) so maybe it differs between region even inside provinces?
Take it with a grain of salt as like I said this was my first car buying experience, but I don't think you should settle for equal than what the online Toyota quote is giving you. So if online is saying $25K, and the dealership is quoting you for $25K, they should be able to massage the price for you.
Rate is usually dictated by length of loan. Short loans are 0, higher loans like the 72 month is 2.99%... but then that is dictated on great credit and can be higher if you have awful credit.
Thanks! It is 2.9% and they insist the rates are set by Toyota and cannot be negotiated. I'm in Toronto so maybe that makes a difference? Not sure, but I will wait to see what the August promos are.
Excellent credit so that shouldn't be an issue. I'm just having a hard time getting the out the door price lowered. Thanks for replying!
It might help actually. I went in with excellent credit having been quoted 3.9% and left with 2.9% because my credit was so good.
I'm within walking distance of Canada, and the prices you're paying seem awfully high. For my C2, I paid $19449 ($20kCAD), or about $1500 below MSRP. Is it economical for you to buy a car in Buffalo, and pay to import it?
We Canadians get ripped off at every turn including outrageous taxes and duties. I paid 30k all in for the tech plus C. Welcome to Harperland where the only ones that get a decent deal are fat senators that look like garden knomes.
Hmm, you also have a bit more honest pricing policies, if the advertised price of the car includes VAT. I paid $21150 including sales tax.
