Ex-Patriot Hernandez indicted on murder charge 1st degree murder. I think its time for a boycott of these overpaid idolized thugs.
I no longer care for pro sports now that they import players to play in our teams. I'd rather have only Americans playing even if they aren't as good as the foreign players.
Keep in mind the Patriots cut him immediately after he was charged, offered trade-ins for his jerseys to fans, went into a Damnatio memoriae mode. In other words, it was dealt with as well as it possibly could be. The bigger issue is jocks are often treated like royalty in high school, college, pros. If they are a standout, the money and publicity will get them out of tickets/jail and other preferential treatment, enabling all kinds of bad behavior.
I recall a better class of people in football. Grant it many players are good. Wonder how much the head trama contributed to this ? Perhaps that is his defense We had a retired tackle no name football player who lived a few towns away. Always in the news with problems with law enforcement. Got into fights in bars, accused of date rape, accused of domestic violence, constant run in's with the neighbors. He tore the fence down when the neighbor complained about noise He once turned a soda machine on it's side when the change did not dispense caught on video and in the news. Ran around with the Kardashian want to be's
When I was in Charleston knocking holes in the ocean, we used to load up a bunch of folks in a 15 pax van and go to a "Bo's" game....meaning The Charleston Rainbows. I'm dating myself of course, because they're the River Dawgs now, and have been for almost 20 years.....but wow! You couldn't ask for better family entertainment (even with us rowdy sailors there! )for the 2-3 dollars that they would semi-occasionally collect from us. Back in those days you could even bring a cooler into the park, and the games were every bit as entertaining if not more so than the ones that you would have had to drive to Atlanta to watch. Fast Forward a few years. When I was visiting a friend in Nawlins I was invited to a Zephyrs game. While I was going into the park a total stranger gave me a ticket that she got from the local casino. Turns out that this was THE most expensive ticket in the park. It was $12. In addition to a pretty entertaining game, the crowd was VERY entertaining (This was New Orleans!) and there was even a pretty good fireworks show. I just checked. That seat goes for about $15 now. Being military....I think I would pay $8. As far as Boycotts? I've been Boycotting professional sports for almost three decades now. I might watch part of a game on TV once or twice a year, if it's baseball or football. I'd rather have a prostate exam than watch an NBA game, and you couldn't chase me into a pro ballpark with a loaded pistol. It would be easier to try and sneak an M179A1 Howitzer into an NFL stadium than a six-pack of cola and a few sammiches and if you got caught with the artillery piece you would probably get into less trouble---(the REAL reason for the latest ""security"" rules!) Pro Game? No tanks!!! I don't need Jessie Jackson or the Southern Baptist Convention to tell me who to boycott. I'm pretty good at noodling things out for myself. They have a right to do as they please, and many of them funny talkin' feriners that they bring into the mix could teach the ""real"" Americans a thing or two about sportsmanship, and class....to say nothing of talent. The Hernandez indictment wasn't exactly what you would call a bolt from the blue. The best thing that you can say about that mutt is that he'll suffer a little more in prison if only from having fallen from such a lofty perch! Good Riddance....
I'll never understand people with all that money making foolish decisions like this. Oh well, I guess there are stupid people in all walks of life. Even more reason to join the PriusChat Fantasy Football League to support all the good players still left in the NFL.
I enjoy going to the Stadium occasionally but only when the Chargers or Padres are playing great ball. However an outing for a family is expensive. But heck one game a season won't break the bank.
Cars is something I need and desperately need. If Ford made a car as good as the Prius, you bet I would be buying one. I've driven cars from GM, Ford, and Dodge. As for pro sports, who the heck cares. It's just entertainment that I could do without. I have other things to spend my time on
Fusion hybrid is pretty nice, good reviews so far. In light of Toyota's abysmal crash IIHS crash test results that may be the way I go in the near future.
Does Ford Fusion have something like the synergy drive? I sometime could get 75 mpg driving on local roads using a Prius. Could the Fusion hybrid achieve the same?
Not sure, you might be able to achieve higher than EPA ratings based on your driving habits. But one thing the fusion DOESN'T do, is this:
In a general sense Toyota is a much better car than Ford again just my opinion. If Hernandez goes to jail they should lock him up in a cheap Ford. Now that is punishment
