I have a 2013 Prius four. I bought it last December. Does anyone know if there is a GPS update? I also heard there is an Entune firmware update, is this true? Does anyone know how do I get these updates and how do they get installed, and if there is a fee?
Yes that's correct, I was mainly referring to the Navigation. However firmware might be completely different.
there is 2 part to Navigation - The database ie maps, streets, road etc. This part is not free. - The software that does the route calculation, moves little vehicle icon and show turn by turn and say turn right or left. This part is free
What about the map guarantee that comes with a new vehicle? I bought mine in July. Does that mean I'll get the 2013 map update free when it comes out?
There is NO MAP GUARANTEE! I bought my car in September 2011, and the next update came in October 2011. I called Toyota and asked for a copy of the update, since the car was less than a month old, and they basically told me to go jump. That is my only complaint against my Prius at the moment. Joke's on them, I got the 12.1 update for free anyways, but it would have been good of them to just give it to me, and make me a happy customer. Instead I got it for free out of spite. To top it all off, the built in Nav sucks. I use my Garmin instead.
Try doing a search on torrent sites. I don't have the nav system to test the file, but I did see one on kick nice person torrents search for Toyota prius
But it requires a unique license key that you can only get from the dealer. And how did you get the update? I'm talking about what would likely be the 13.1 maps. Mine came up with 12.1.
Unique License key? Never heard of that. This update didn't. Check above, someone had a suggestion where to get it. 12.1 is the latest version, 13.1 should be out around October.
Two part question: What is the procedure for attaining the current software and firmware revision number on my NAV. Where to find out what the current rev is available from Toyota for my NAV
Interesting thread since I just bought a 2013 Prius 3 w/ Display Audio System and navi. Is the ONLY way to get a navi update through entune subscription and download it through my mobile phone? OR can you get the update through the dealer somehow? Exactly how do you get the update? On my 2008 Prius I bought a newer version DVD but I believe they did away with that in the Gen 3.
Not true, My 2011 has a DVD Update, which I just installed last week. I believe the 2013 Model requires a hookup from the dealer as it's an HDD System. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?
on this system it will be a USB update at the dealership. The over the air update through the phone is only for Apps/Entune. Note Entune only refers to Apps (it does not include phone, navi, usb/ipod music) - ie Pandora, iHeartRadio, Weather, etc
