Has anyone experienced the cargo door got stuck after rain? I have started to noticed it, and realised that it was after it got wet in the rain. It makes the electronic noise trying to open, but takes about 5-10 tries to get it open.

    Any suggestions to fix it?

Also, is it impossible to make the cargo door electronically open/close like many other car models? I hurt my shoulder, and it is very hard sometimes to reach up and close it.

    Thanks!

We've had our v for over a year now and I've never had any issue with opening the rear hatch after/during rain. It sounds like there is a leak in the electronic hatch release. Recommend you go to your local dealership as this should be covered under warranty.

I did ask the dealer to take a look at it when I was there for the 10,000 (?) service. They could not find anything wrong. And as I could not duplicate the problem then, they could not do anything.:(

You may have done this already, but have you tried to simulate the conditions created during a rain storm by soaking the rear hatch area before you go to the dealer?

Also check for any mats in the cargo area that have shifted towards the back and are jamming the hatch release. Had this happen to my RX 300 a couple of times.

I have not had any problems with 2012 Prius v hatch release. I would have the dealer take a look if you can't find anything during visual inspection.

    Best of luck.

Thank you! Next time I bring the Prius in, I would definitely try to simulate the wet condition.

I have noticed this, it's like the seals get 'sticky'.

Yes, and it makes electronic noises as if it was unlocking when you try to open it.
