Hey guys I have pip base and was wondering if there is any system that allowed me to check my car's charge status from my iPhone or even led indicators like the leaf. I think the plugin in advanced has a smartphone app, if I change the my head unit will I get functionality, it just suck having to get in the car just to see the rate/distance/time remaining
The Advanced has a built-in cell phone used for the Safety Connect feature (similar to GM's OnStar). This phone is what the Advanced apps use to communicate with the car. The Advanced Apps talk to a server which know how to call the Safety Connect phone. The Base does not have the Safety Connect cell phone, so even with a different head unit, the Advanced apps would not work.
After you get the feel of charging you will guess really close as to how long it takes to charge x amont of ev miles. It takes me from empty to full about 2 1/2 hours to charge. If I am down to about 8.5 miles of ev left and want a full charge it takes about one hour to full charge. This is on 12o volt charge. So I think you will get a feel real quick as to how long a charge takes.
no one has actually had a indicator installed a indiactor that allows you to see the status from a distance the orange is a bit smal
As was previously mentioned- most of us have become pretty good at knowing the recharge state by the amount of time it's plugged in.
