Want a direction indicator that doesn't need electric power and is always "on" ? Try a magnetic compass! To install this old Airguide compass I had to glue the mounting bracket to the top of the plastic dash using Shoe Goo, but when installed there the compass does not interfere with forward vision nor the view of the instrument display. It is nice to know which direction I'm driving while still looking straight ahead rather than having to look down at the map display and interpret that information--less "eyes off road" time. How have other folks attached extra instruments? Has anyone installed a good clinometer?
Good idea. I'd, however, use 3M VHB tape instead of Shoe Goo. You can always remove the tape. I don't know if Shoo Goo contains solvents that would "melt" into the covering on the dash.
I will look for that! My impression is that the Shoe Goo did in fact bond in a very permanent fashion with the plastic. Fortunately, it was black Shoe Goo and blends well.
