I'm sure this has been discussed fully, but I'm not finding a definitive answer. As much as I wish Toyota had equipped the PIP with a remote electric heater, they didn't. Is there any way to at least get the seat heaters and rear defrost to stay on when plugged in?
I'd be surprised if you can do that. When I get to work, I'll usually leave the system on ready and listen to the radio before I go in and then plug the car in to charge. Well, the other day, I plugged the car in first and then listened to the radio. After about 18-20 minutes, the radio shut off and the message "Auto Power Off To Conserve Battery" came up. That tells me the system is running only on the 12V battery while the car is charging.
Thanks guys. Yeah, we've owned a lot of vehicles with heated seats and these are ridiculously fast. I often walk my dog around the block just before I leave and figure it'd be nice if I could get a jump especially on the defrost while plugged in. Too bad.
With my commute, I go a bit past the EV range anyway, so some mornings I need the front defroster and it does heat up fairly quickly.
Tried it this morning. Looks like the seat heaters do come on if the switch is in the right spot. A/C does nothing for frosted windows though!
