So that verify's that running in PWR mode indeed is producing more torque than the other modes in that specific MPH window. What was that 20-60 mph? That explains the rush feeling you feel when you are running in PWR mode when you squeeze that Go pedal a bit I can see that this car would be a nightmare to try to figure out the software for tweaking things. He said that the passing time in Power mode is reduced by over a second at 50% throttle. But that's just due to the modified power curve. Flooring it in Normal mode would give the same results.
You still have more available power and speed, quicker in Power mode because flooring the gas petal takes some time, a second or whatever.
It's only only your foot. You are simply more of the way there in Power mode on the way to flooring it, than in the other modes.
So, is there any way for the default to be changed? Dealer or Scangauge perhaps? Actually, I don't care about the default-I would like it to stay in whatever mode is selected until changed manually. Instead, it reverts to normal and will not stay in either eco or power mode. Can that be changed???
I will stay in ECO mode but will NOT stay in power mode. I'm sure they designed it that way for economy. Turn off signatures in Tapatalk Tapatalk
I don't know where the exact threads are, but it was proven a while back that PWR mode gives higher mpg's than any other mode It even works in my own car There is also a mod that involves a pair of timers that will put the car in PWR mode right after bootup with no button pushin required I have the timers on my bench but haven't been home enough to get-r done. Maybe this winter I will find time to partake upon the project. Drawings are on this forum somewhere...probably in the mods or whatever that section is called. Mike
If you accelerate by the HSI position, it shouldn't matter. If you accelerate by pedal position alone, then, yes it should help.
I don't know how this is possible because the ICE would be on more often. The best mileage is had when you can cruise along at 30-45 MPG on a road and drive to keep the ICE off as much as possible. Now maybe on the freeway it's a different story since the ICE would be on all the time at faster speeds anyway?
Not without breaking the 50 MPG EPA sticker. If PWR was sticky, it would have to be EPA tested in that mode. With the razor thin margin rounding up to 50, even a tiny loss would knock it to 49 MPG, which just doesn't have the marketing punch. As noted earlier (with a misspelling), ECO mode is sticky. I use it all the time, turning it off only for other drivers who dislike it.
People who have a lead foot and gas/rev it a lot, I could understand because you are getting up to speed faster in PWR mode. But for those who are careful not to rev it a lot, keeping the ICE low or even off much of the time, I doubt PWR mode will help MPG at all, in fact, it very likely will hurt it. There's a road on the way to/from my house that I can go about 35 MPH on and can drive completely on battery almost the entire time for several miles. This is where I get the really good MPG. But before I realized I could keep the ICE mostly off on this road, I was revving it more and the ICE was on when it could have been off there.
I find myself in the PWR mode constantly. It's addicting. 5MPG hit is worth it Is this going to shorting the life of my Prius significantly? Also, is there a way to set it always on? I rather not toggle the button everytime I start the car.
There is a thread somewhere, that I don't recall where, that explains how to use a pair of timers to set PWR mode as the default after the car boots up. I'll dig around a bit this evening and post sumthin if I find it Mike
