Has anyone ever taken the whole Prius drive train and electronics and transplanted it in a hot rod? Thinking of doing this.
frankly, front wheel drive "hot rods" suck. if its not gonna be stupid, you got to go way outside the box. but then it might still suck. even after all that work. perhaps a kit car-- like they used to put on VW beetle frames. that might be cool. it would be more of a "sports car" than a hot rod though.
If you can't light up the tires, it's no longer a hot-rod. So I don't get the point of the premise but sometimes customizations are done just to be done.
You could move the the engine and transmission to the rear, but the Prius traction control is never going to let you spin the wheels. John (Britprius)
You may wish to start with the drivetrain of a Prius v, the shorter ratio make breaking the tires easier. Top speed is only 103 though. Turbocharge it and have fun. TurboKits.com | Corolla 2ZR-FE Turbo Kit for 09-13 Toyota Corolla - COR-901-003 | On Sale: $3,295.00
you know, with these junk integrity tires on my '06, if I don't quite floor it, I can get 1 tire to squeal easy. it sounds really weak though. but my chevelle makes the tires scream if I nail it.
Just leaving the bodywork "rustic"? That's ok. Impressive, timeless! Looks like a serious shop, is it all yours, or sharing space??
that would be way cool with a 348 W motor and a 4 speed, but anything with less than 8 cylinders just don't cut the mustard...
