Hi all fiends My Prius 2004 I was recommend by car maintenance using engine oil 5-20 normally and my car was second hand from USA Should I change 5-20 or 5-30 that good for my car Thanks you Nicole
5-w20 is what Toyota recommends, do you have any evidence they are wrong? Edit: I am wrong. 5-w30 is what Toyota recommends. Sorry.
Palmer , but I saw the engine oil cover it's mention 5-w30 but I notice that it's always miss after I change 2 month so I have to buy at least 1l of oil to fill more any problem with that ? Please advise
Gen2 was 5W-30 recommended, later Toyota said 5W-20 was OK too. I stick with 5W-30...sometimes in winter I go with 0W-30 (Mobil-1 advanced fuel eonomy). If you want to use 5w-20, winter is a good time to try it becuase the cold weather.
I believe you are saying that your engine consumes some oil. In that case, it will not help to move to a thinner oil such as 5W-20. Stick with 5W-30. Actually, since you live in a tropical area you probably could get away with using straight 30 weight oil instead of a multigrade oil like 5W-30.
...nice! sounds like closer to 33C in day time. Why are we talking Celcius? OK stick with 5W-30...sounds like Florida here.
