hi all. im only a relatively new G2 Prius owner, and i have the itech edition. bought it roughly about a month ago. i only just realized that my headlights have a thin strip of led's between the headlight and the indicator sections of the headlight housings. the headlights are a little cloudy due to UV exposure, and while researching replacements, i discovered there was a LED version of the headlight ! so i went investigating the car closer, and low and behold. there are leds in there. i have read through the manual, and tried a few different button combos, but for the life of me, i can not get them to turn on. does anyone know how and when these will illuminate ? are they a DRL type thing ? if so, i can't sya i have ever seen another prius G2 with the leds on. seems very strange to have them in the headlights, yet not operating... sorry if this is a dumb question..... Jason.
Not that familiar with the Gen 2 Prius, but here's a similar post regarding the LED strip on the Gen 3 headlight assembly. Hope this helps until a Gen 2 Prius expert can reply. Row of unused LED lights? | PriusChat
There are no LED's in the headlamps they are false. Many people have asked this question. John (Britprius)
thanks for the info... wonder why they charge over $100 more for the fake leds when buying a set of headlights ? Jason
its fake well not even fake its juts a design part of the headlights housing poeple think it looks like led's...
Are you thinking of the HID vs. standard headlamps? I think that is the only styles and the housings look the same from the outside.
no, as far as i know, there were no G2 sold in oz that had factory hid xenon headlights. i have the top spec itech, and it has only halogen.
