In the printed paper books this seems to be a thousand dollar (?) purchase. Is there a CD or something available cheaper?
I got a repair manual on CD off eBay. The files are in pdf format and includes body, electrical, lighting, engine, etc. SCH-I535 Hmm, a search doesn't turn up any CD rom manuals. eBay must have cracked down on these types of inexpensive manuals on CD. Got mine a while back. SCH-I535
You can access the manuals online through: http://techinfo.toyota.com/ Subscription starts at $15 for 2 days. You can save the pdf files for later reference but they break them up into small pieces so it would take quite a bit of work to get them all. Ebay CD may be a good option, but it is almost certainly a bootleg. Also have to be careful you are getting the actual factory manual. I have purchased ones in the past that were copies of fairly generic third party manuals aimed at independent shops that want basic info on lots of different vehicles.
As with Priuschat's policy on nav DVDs, before this goes further, do not go pointing out places where to buy or provide links to bootlegged CDs/DVDs on Priuschat. Thank you.
Actually, this is how I got the PDF manual for my 2007. It took a few hours of downloading, renaming and organizing, but I have the service manual, body repair manual and wiring manual. I also have most of the service manual for my wife’s 2001 Avalon.
Yeah, I took the same approach. Although its a bit of a pain, IMHO Toyota has made an effort to make the information available to individuals at a reasonable cost so I'd prefer to support that financially and help keep this information accessible.
Depending on the level of detail you want, consider a subscription through alldatadiy.com. I believe there are a couple of sample manuals that you can look through for free to see if the format works for you. The menus are a little difficult to navigate through but the subscription's very reasonable and the TSB's are kept somewhat up to date.
