Hi all, I have a 2011 IV w/ Nav. When I push the talk button to use the handsfree options, she always reads me a list of the things I can do. E.g. say: make a call, pick a destination...etc. Is there a way I can just ask for what I want w/out her reading me the whole list? Thanks, Mark
It has been a while since I have done this but reading the Nav Manual I believe you can do this with the Setup menu. Select Setup->Voice and the Voice Settings Menu will be displayed. Scroll down to Automatic Recognition and select ON.
No dice I even turned off voice recognition then back on again. It was already on... It seems like such a waste of time to have to wait for her to give you a list of all you can do, especially when I already know Thanks, Mark
Turns out there is no adjustment for the menu list. The fix is pushing the talk button twice. That takes you directly to saying what you want and avoiding having to listen to the menu being read. Thanks, Mark.
Pushing the talk button twice is one work around to avoid the voice guidance for the menu list. There is also a setting in Settings->Voice->Voice Settings that also turns this off. I checked mine on the way home last night and I do not get voice guidance with a single touch of the talk button. Let me check my settings and get back with you.
I am curious if changing the settings that way would keep the directions from being read when driving a route...? Keep us posted. Thanks, Mark
There are different voice guidance settings for different features, one being the route guidance. I have the voice for route guidance ON but the voice for the speech commands OFF. I tried to copy the page out of my Nav Manual but I get errors every time that I try to upload the pdf file. Take a look in your Nav Manual under Voice Settings and they give the complete listing of voice guidance on page 243. Like I said earlier, it has been a long time since I adjusted these settings.
Try Setup->Voice->Voice Recognition Guidance->OFF. That works. I tried it after work to be sure. It was the only one I had turned off. The description makes perfect sense once you finally figure it out.
I have it off now and so far so good. I had read that in my manual but for some reason didn't think it was the correct setting...Thanks for providing the clarity. Mark
