I'm driving a 2005 Prius and today I got a flat. It turns out I need 4 new tires (they are obviously really bald, oop!). Anyway, the tire shop I went to wanted to charge me $569 for 4 Bridgestone Ecopia tires installed and alignment. Those are pretty much the same tires I got from tirerack. a few years ago for $83 each, and paid a shop around $50 to mount them. I think if I go that route again, it will cost me less than $400 installed. How much have you all paid? Any advice? Also, is it unsafe to be driving on my stock spare tire for a few days while I wait to have tires shipped? Thanks!
Yep, the Ecopias were $90 a piece at my store, minus $70 rebate when you buy 4, and ~$60 to install. After tax, right around $400. Alignments are usually $60-80, so the place you went to wasn't a very good deal. My tires still have a little life in them (weather cracked as can be, though), so I'm considering picking up a set of Ecopias while the sale is on and having them installed in a few months.
You posted in the wrong forum, but tires is tires and I am not the forum cop (your 2005 car is a Gen II, so that would be the right forum...). Anyway, not unsafe to drive on the spare, as long as you do not exceed the "speed limit" posted on the spare tire ( 50 mph?). They don't sell the bridgestone in your area, but have you thought about Discount Tire. I have been really happy with their service and prices....http://www.discounttire.com
Thanks yall'. I went with the bridgestone ecopia from costco, installed for $386. Had to buy a costco membership, but that'll be nice to have for the moments when I need 500 rolls of toilet paper.
Costco is useful for lot of things besides tires. I spend probably $600 every 2 months on food and other items and travel 50 miles to get to the Wake Forest Rd store in my v with 4-5 freezer boxes in the back. Doubt we have bought beef, chicken, fish etc from anywhere else in years. My membership card still has me with hair it s that old.
** Mod note ** Yep, wrong forum, but due to a forum software error, we're not able to relocate it at this time.
