Optima Yellow Top Battery Replacement

Next time I get one I will try to take a picture inside the holes on both sides.

 

I have an optima yellow on a Civic hybrid its the same battery that uses the prius? Maybe the size fit but what about the sides plugs? + and - same side?

 

I believe the HCH uses the 51R battery.

 

And the prius wich one uses? Different number and size?

 

The Optima part number DS46B24R.

 

I contacted Exide thru the web contact form and received the following reply confirming the existence of the vent hole and the elbow. Perhaps it vents from only one side and the side you looked in is not the venting side?:

If it does have a vent hole, can it take the OEM elbow that connects the vent tube to the vent hole on the battery or does the battery come with its own elbow? Thanks.



The Exide Edge FP-AGM51JIS does have a vent port. The battery does come with a vent elbow to connect to the existing vent tube.

In response to my query about vent holes, the rep said all Exide Edge batteries have vent holes on both sides of the battery.
