Anyone know? Is it when the "EV Battery" screen is used up or is it whenever the engine is not on? IE, without the "EV Battery" you're in Hybrid mode, but you can still coast or charge that portion and do full EV under 40 mph or so, I tend to just push the gas pedal slightly and I still stay in EV in my normal Prius, and this is above 70 mph.
i believe, whenever the ev light is on (not the car ev icon) it is tracking ev. not sure if kWh is charging or discharging, but i think this has been covered somewhere, possibly the faq.
I drove 123 miles on Father's Day, starting with a depleted battery. Despite not plugging in, it still registered 2 miles of EV. In other words, EV is counted when either EV symbol is illuminated. Also, HV will draw upon EV capacity, even when not in EV mode. Then of course, there's the EV capacity being drawn from when on the highway along with the engine being used. So yes, just keep watching when the engine is running or not running... since it does keep track, but that doesn't really tell the full story.
Roseville - South Lake Tahoe - Roseville 191 miles. Started with a full charge, HSI said 67 mpg probably means more like 63 mpg actual.
