I tried changing my badge background like I've seen other people do with their Prius's. Now I watched a few videos and they all suggested the same thing. I used credit cards to get the front badge out, and changed the background. I'm really happy with the result.... on the front badge. EDIT: After removing the badge a second time I realized I had been popping the badge off wrong. The picture I have has my credit cards behind the black part. You want to place the cards BETWEEN the black and chrome. It pops off soooooo easy. Now on the back badge..... It's not attached like the front one is with clips. It's attached with glue. When the badge came off I took of some of the glue with it. It was this sticky stuff that also worked as padding or something. The back badge was the one I really wanted to change, since it's the one people will be seeing the most. I still have 4 feet of vinyl left, so I'll figure it out. But It' not going to bee as easy as I wanted it to be... :<
Yeah you're right! I wanted to take it off from behind me so people wouldn't automatically see the blue and want to pass me.
I never liked the blue. And while I have the logo off, it will get repainted as well. Maybe I'll just paint it all the same as the body color for a monochromatic look. Any other suggestions for colors?
If you have a brightly colored car, consider blacking it out. I see black logo's all the time and they look pretty sick.
It's silver, windows are tinted, taillights are smoke black valenti's. So I have a lot of silver and black - a raiders fan dream car. I plan on blacking out the front bumper this week so it will add some black in the front as well. My default would be black.... I's just spray paint so it's easy enough to change the color.
You might consider plasti-dip black instead of plain spray paint. Sticks much better and more matte if that's what you're after. I rarely see glossy blacked out decals.
I removed my rear badge a while ago and replaced the blue with solid red to go with my theme. I cleaned the badge up a lot and plastidipped the chrome black. I removed all the old resin glue stuff. I then put small strips of new 3M outdoor double sided tape to reapply the badge. I've had it for about 8 months with zero worries. I even go rear ended by a car (only damage to rear bumper and hatch slightly) and the company ordered a new rear badge. They called me up and said they couldn't find the black and red OEM like I had. So now I have an unapplied extra chrome and blue badge.
I asked my friend who has a Scion what worked for him and he recommended that same 3M Doubel Sided tape. It was a bit tedious cutting every piece to fit just right (and I do have som gaps that I missed) but I'm happy with the result. Plus, it does have the two little points that do attach to the body which puts me at easy since it means the tape has less work to do. Here's the final product for the rear badge.
