Message on my screen -- battery too low ... ??

    Hi guys.
    I always try to save gas in my Prius so I hit the Ev button whenever I'm in the target parking lot. Overall my Fuelly is 51.9 mpg. Today when I got into the car I hit my Ev button and it said "battery too low". Do you think my car is starting to have problems? I also hit the power control a lot too.

    you can use it in any parking lot, not just target.;)

    The car will not go into EV mode if the battery charge is too low (2 bars, approx.). Unless your battery had 3 or more bars, it is not a problem.

    Don't think it is a problem.... just a normal message that anyone would see if the battery happened to be low when you pressed the EV button. the charge level goes up and down as you use the car.

    Kind of surprised you haven't seen that message before now.

    Hitting the EV button is no guarantee that you will be able to go into EV. The Prius still pays attention to things like battery charge and engine temperature.

    I mean seriously, did you look at the battery icon? Was it low? That would give you your answer.
