High EV mode utilizers, how much do you fill your gas tank?

So gasoline only weighs a little more than 6 pounds per gallon. But for those who commute mostly or entirely in EV mode, do you fill up with less than a full tank for a small gain in mileage efficiency?

This topic was probably covered as it pertains to keeping the gasoline from going stale. But any hypermilers maintaining around a gallon or two for EV or fuel efficiency reasons?

there was a thread on this awhile back. some guy claimed he was going to save a ton of bolts by only keeping a few gallons on board. i think some of the brighter people here pretty much disproved his theory.

GasBuddy says about $3.75/gallon near you, so a bit over 5 gallons at a time. Are you filling from near empty?

Removing the floor-mats might save as much. ;)

The weight of the car has less of an effect on hybrid mileage than in a conventional car. A measure of the energy spent accelerating the car, is returned through regeneration. By a rough calculation, the mileage penalty (due to extra weight) should be reduced by the inverse of the hybrid regenerative efficiency factor.

Yes, almost but I do not wait 'till the fuel gauge start blinking.
The Pip IS my commuter vehicle and I drive it everywhere. I do recharge a minimum of 2 to 3 times a day.

I used to carry a small gas can just in case I ran out, but now, I'm counting on the residual charge in the battery to get me to the gas station.

You won't believe me, but changing to a PiP I started missing fuel-ups. Therefore, I refuel 20 litres (5 US gal) only unless when going for a long haul.
Having all EV commute, this means approx two fuel-ups per month.

I know, I am not saving any fuel. At the end of the month, I spend more: the more fuel-ups, the more sweets and drinks I buy at the gas station I otherwise would not stop to buy.

And the extra weight-gain from the snacks will reduce your mileage. ;)
