My 2007 Prius has been with me for 3 months now. I am really happy with its performance, especially its fuel consumption rate. I would like to check the state of the hybrid battery and maintenance it if necessary. Kindly advise how could i get this done? Regards, sanlen
If you have scangauge or other device that can check delta SOC check it. If its 16.6% or above battery can break anytime. If its more than 6.6% you should balance battery immediately. If your battery has high mileage then it might be good idea to balance it anyway at least if delta SOC isn’t 0.0%. You may want to drive while (you or somebody else is) observing the numbers and take highest reading. Only battery maintenance that you can do is to balance battery by slowly overcharging it. Balancing battery pack cases wear to it (but not as much as driving with it imbalanced). So you shouldn’t do this too often.
Check the battery case, cooling fan, and ducts for dirt, and clean if needed. You never know what might be there in a used vehicle. Good info here and on youtube. For detailed battery diagnosis, the mini VCI is the best choice.
No you need delta SOC and not normal SOC. Connect scangauge and put in correct xgauge. No need for additional devices.
