Multi-Information Display shows an Warning Signal - ! - with a picture of the rear of the prius belo

Is there NOT a description of that light in your owners manual ??
Clue or not, the dealer has ACCESS to people at Toyota who CAN tell them what the light is for.
Is it safe to assume that this does not happen immediately upon power-up........along with all of the other lamp tests ??

 

try another dealer, or call toyota directly. i have never seen it.

 

You don't mean the slip indicator, do you? The back of the car with some wavy lines? It will come on when you hit a slick bit of road, maybe in the rain, etc.

This indicator will also illuminate while braking and the car goes over some badly uneven pavement. That's when I've seen it light up.

 

I believe you are referring to the Pre-collision system warning. You are seeing the "Stage 1" warning; it is telling to you be on the lookout for the vehicle ahead. If you continue to get closer it moves into stage two and it displays the word "Brake" on the MID and the HUD. I notice you have the advance model which in 2012 included the Adaptive cruise control with PCS.

 

What color or colors does it show for the exclamation point and the rear of the car icon?
And where on the Multi-informational-display is this light

in with the 21 other warning lights to the right of the Multi-imformational screen ?
or on one of the 4 or 5 multi-imformational screens?

Others of us like to get a few clues to work with first, before we make or guess.

 

Energy Monitor
In the 3 seconds you see this display does only the car fade out and change ?
Or do other parts of the Energy Monitor change too? LIke the Green and Red Lines going to the Motor, Engine and Battery
and / or the battery state of charge part of the Energy Monitor.
Is the Clock still visible when you see that display for the 3 seconds?

There's a section in the back of the owner's manual that shows the messages that pop up in that part of the display. You have to thumb through the illustrations to find it.

 

is it the one with the car showing you the rear end and the exclamation point?
