I live in WA and the fact that the moon roof in option 4 and the AT package in option 5 are mutually exclusive is frustrating enough to make me want to shop other cars. However, I understand that some states get different options. Is there any place or any way to get the advanced tech package with a moon roof?
The Regions order cars from Toyota then distribute them to their dealers. You may be able to find a different combination of color, level, and option package in a nearby state if it is in a different region. Cars shipped to Hawaii are configured a bit differently but those differences are relatively minor. isnoop, I'm sorry Toyota doesn't build what you want. Your choices are a Four-Solar, Five-AT, or another vehicle.
One thing, the moon roof reduces head room, a lot. I'm just 6', found I was brushing the roof in moon roof models. Have you tried sitting in both types at dealership? Maybe bend a bit, ie: what's more important to you, the moon roof or the Advanced Technology package? By the way, your audience comes from all corners of the world. Not all of them would know "WA" equals Washington State, USA, or "AT" equals Advanced Technology. The latter is common acronym for Automatic Transmission.
Not in the States. So close, yet so far, you can get the AT w/ SR in Canada (but without the 17" alloys or LED headlights). This is the combo that I have. The Prius v has a panoramic resin moonroof (fixed) with AT package if you're ok with a fixed moonroof.
It may be easier to import a car from Canada than to export one to Canada but it's probably not cheap.
Actually it's fairly straightforward to import one into Canada. I thought it was more difficult to import a car into the U.S. because of American regulations. Registrar of Imported Vehicles If the vehicle already has DRLs, it makes it even easier because you don't have to install an aftermarket one. If one has a "DRL OFF" setting, you'll have to disable that setting. Most cars sold in Canada are U.S. certified (emissions, safety*) so it's a matter of paperwork (making sure the car is legally admissible, that you are the actual owner of the car, it has all the papers to prove it's legal and in working order and not stolen, pay the taxes at the border and pass provincial inspection, slap on some French safety stickers [airbag notice, driver's door jamb info]). I'm simplifying it, of course. *Our bumper standards were harmonized with the U.S. in 2008 and no longer require the 5mph/8kph standard. The U.S. standard is 2.5mph/4kph.
My condolences on your regression. The U.S. once had that 5 mph bumper standard too, but it didn't survive a collision with the Reagan administration.
Oh well. Apparently it's the world standard so if it makes it cheaper for the manufacturers to comply, then the savings can be passed on (as long as you don't have parking-lot-speed collisions. I remember a 2008 Suzuki Aerio had a stupidly expensive bill compared to a Corolla or Civic from a minor slow-speed bump). It also means we don't get protruding bumpers
Here's a parts diagram of '81 Civic, 2-door hatch. Items 11 and 23 are hydraulic cylinders. Those were the days: In the background of the second pic, looks like a newer Accord (or something similar), with newer, pretty much useless style.
Squirrel!! Here's a picture of the solar roof from Prius Connection Detroit 2009 to get us back on track
At the risk of sounding negative, the days of being able to "custom order" a high volume car are long gone (referring to the OP's original question).
