Hi Guys, Can anyone suggest any good reliable websites that I can buy brake pads and rotor or other maintenance parts for my Prius? Thanks!
Just had an experience with auto anything.com Bought a device to keep animals climbing from the back to the front, the sucker was 8" short (it mounts on the headrest rails) cost me 45$ to ship it back, they were a poor source for online auto parts, the part was "guaranteed" to fit.
To do the brake job right Techstream is needed so you may find yourself in over your head. For other parts I search through Amazon as a number of dealer mail order depts are represented along with others. Nobody has the best price on everything all the time so I've bought filters from three or four dealers. Don't forget to check store prices. When I bought inverter coolant NAPA was the cheapest and the price in the store was the same as the price on-line.
It is my experience particularly from buying rotors the OEM Toyota are not the best. The OEM rotors seem to suffer from rust problems paricularly in damp or humid climates or where salt is used on the roads. This is something that aftermarket replacements I have fitted do not. This however this does not mean all aftermarket rotors are better quality. The OEM brake pads are possibly the best buy as they last well millage wise, and there coefficient of friction is guaranteed to be correct. The ware on these is accelerated by rust on the rotors. JimN Techstream is not required to change rotors an pads as long as the two light blue relays are removed and the 12 volt battery is disconnected before work is carried out. John (Britprius)
