Last week, I ordered 2 cabin air filters for my 2007 Prius, $6 and some change each.. total was $12.62. I was a little miffed yesterday when I got home, and noticed 2 boxes (1 small, 1 large) from amazon. I thought some dolt at the amazon warehouse put 1 tiny cabin air filter into a huge box, thus creating waste. Well, I opened the box to find this: I got 8 in the big box and 1 in the small box!! I called Amazon customer service, because I didnt want 9 cabin air filters, lol, let alone have to pay for them... and get this?? They said now that I received them, they cannot resell them so I may dispose of them or use them myself Which brings me to the question: Should I buy a lottery ticket?? haha just kidding. My real question is how often should I be replacing the cabin air filter, and does anybody else use TYC brand off amazon?
Hmmm Im not at home right now, but Im sure I can find a stock pic somewhere on the web. Give me a hot minute. OK... Heres the amazon ad itself: Amazon.com: TYC 800005P Toyota Replacement Cabin Air Filter: Automotive which has a picture of the filter. I bought the same brand last year too, and they work well. Plus this particular brand received positive reviews (4.5 stars out of 290 customer reviews - not too shabby!) My suggestion: Buy TWO and see if you get NINE like I did
That's a deal. Change interval depends on air conditions in your area and driving conditions. Recommended interval is 30K - same for the engine air filter. I'd simply inspect it at every oil change and decide if the old one is clean enough to continue or not. I do the same with my filters.
Lottery ticket: No. It's nothing but a tax on stupid. CAF change interval: I'd change them out every 20,000 miles from now until you get rid of the car. Based on your current year/mileage that will take you out to about year 2025. By then the G4 Prius will be out. Good Luck!
I use the same ones off Amazon and they are just fine. I usually vacuum mine at every oil change and change every 6-12 months depending on how dirty is it.
