What do you feel about our low fuel prices? You notice less interest on priuschat. I for one would like too see high prices again. I see folks are becoming driving crazy again.
I never want to see high prices. Sure I bought and wanted a Hybrid for the fuel efficiency, but that doesn't mean I sit around wishing gas would sky rocket in price. It's still all relative. Rising gas prices hurt a lot of people in peripheral industries and with jobs connected to the price of gas. Everything starts to cost more when fuel prices rise. This winter I've enjoyed the <$20.00 fill ups. But no...I don't want gasoline prices to rise.
It just went up another 10-15 cents overnight ontop of the 10-15 cent raise over the last 2 weeks around me. $2.60 now.. I sold my damn hemi right as it started going down. Missed out on all those weekly cheap fill ups. Lol. Oh well good riddance.
I don't consider $2 gas to be especially "cheap." I remember people flopping and twitching in the late 80's or 90's when it spiked over $1.50. Expensive gas always hits poorer families much harder, since they're less likely to be able to afford more expensive, newer and thus more efficient cars. Even if gas is $1 a gallon you still don't want to go around wasting the stuff, and if you don't go buying new cars every 4 years a Prius makes every bit as much sense with cheap gas as it does with gas being $4 a gallon. When was the Prius first released in your market, and how much was gas then?
Waiting to see Feb. car sales but Jan_2015 Prii LB+c+v+PIP was better than one year ago. As far as web site, I have no idea but some active Prius owners have moved onto Plug_ins because Prius ownership from 2001 to 2012 was a holding spot for some who really wanted EV's. As for me, I was always more fond of the hybrid concept for our lifestyle.
I own a cabin cruiser that gets 1.5 nautical mpg and has twin engines (actually thats me captaining it in my avatar picture!) I desperately want gas prices to stay low. Also, it keeps the operating cost of the Prius nice and low. However, I am prepared for the gas prices to go back up, and boated right through $4.50/gallon gas a few years ago. I will just make adjustments if that happens.
We are back up to $1.30 per ltr. In British Columbia. Times 3.78 for US. Per gal. Expensive!!!! Probably be 1.50 per ltr. Soon. Hal
Yeah I think that is the standard but all of my equipment (chartplotter, etc) is in nautical. My mpg's are bad enough (last year I did get 2.7mpg avg. on a trip where I was cruising with the flow of the river!) so either way its a scary number, lol. Even scarier - my boat is only 27' and has twin 4.3l GM fuel injected v6 engines. My friend has a 41' SeaRay with twin v8 big blocks, carbureted I can cruise easily at 29mph, 3000rpms. At 3000rpms in his boat, hes going about 16mph and probably getting around .5-.7mpg.
27 is big enough....and yes....most plotters are in NM. I was just trying to help you out...statute miles are shorter.... I have an Uncle in the boat biz.....and I STILL cannot afford to own one. A friend with an 18 I/O was razzing me about riding a Harley and how expensive they are until I reminded him that he can't even get his hull wet for less than $100. Be safe!
low gas prices are hurting a lot of people in the domestic oil industry, and making russia a very dangerous nuke state.
When I made my famous prediction here (you guys remember right?) of $2 gasoline, I said it would happen by Feb_2015, because I knew the price always spikes in Feb. I think gaso price probably heads way down after we get over this seasonal hump, maybe as we get towards Sept. Regrets if this is too late for the boating season.
Well, the good news is my boat is stored down the street from my house. When gas prices were $1.57, I went to the boat 2-3 times with about 20-30 gallons of gas each trip. My batteries are in the garage for the winter, but I imagine I have to be starting out the season with a full tank.
