My 5 month old 2015 Prius develops a problem. Once in a while when driving at night, the door open indicator and dome lights will come on for a moment and off right away. I assume it is cause by a loose connection or faulty sensor. Before I take the car to the dealer, is there something I can check?
Do you have a blanket or similar in the hatch. We had one, tucked under the hatch floor back edge, but it got loose and into the latch. It was causing an audible alarm too: no warning sound in your case?
I have a mat on the back but it does not cover the latch. That was one of the 1st thing I checked when I notice this problem. The car does beep once when the indicator & dome light come on and it always one beep. One time, the cruise control indicator comes on at the same time even though I did not press the cruise control switch.
As gauged by......not just looking but pushing on each door and hatch individually to really be sure ?? Anyhow, I think the dealer will need to check it out eventually because there might be a switch that is out of adjustment or defective. I assume that it does not indicate which door is open ? If you put it in D and open a door, does it then say which one is open ??
By stop the car, open & close the doors with stronger force that what I use to. One indicator for all door & hatch.
One of our older Accords, maybe the '86, had a door open indicator with distinct symbols for each door and the trunk. Never seen that since. Progress.
The funny part is the Prius's door open indicator is a car with 2 doors. Was there ever a 2-dr Prius? I guess it save them a penny or two to have a 2-dr symbol instead 4.
You haven't been looking very closely. I just went and checked. My C has a pictorial of which door/hatch is open. So does my Fusion. So did my Malibu. So did my Elantra. That's as far back as I can remember. Oddly enough, I don't think ANY of them makes any kind of alarm at all if the HOOD is not latched down properly.
That is nice that your C shows which door/hatch is open but can you check your Prius Hatchback if it is the same. If you Prius hatchback's indicator identifies which door/hatch is open, I can go back to my dealer and demand a replacement. Thanks.
My first gen xB had an issue with this when I first got it. Turned out to be a somewhat fickle hatch latch. Never replaced it just made dang sure was fully closed never much if an issue after the first few months of ownership.
That's a step in the right direction, good good. With our hatchback I've had to pull over numerous times, just as we're taking off, find out just which damn door (or hatch) .t is
