It was my understanding, that whenever you take your foot off the accelerator, the car automatically goes to electric (EV) mode, provided there is enough charge in the battery. If I understood correctly, then, on the ECO display, once your foot comes off, and the ECO bar disappears, the EV light should come on? About 20 - 30% of the time, with the battery at 50% or higher charge, when I remove my foot, and the ECO bar disappears, I get no EV light. Is this a malfunction? Anyone? Thanks in advance. Jack
when you let off the accelerator, the car goes into regen. if you apply the gas gently, you can ev if the conditions are right, but there are many conditions.
I guess that's the answer I was hoping to hear and all is good, especially since in getting in the low 60s mpg.
Does it mean that only the EV sign is not lit, or that it doesn't go into EV above a certain speed? I have seen once 'c' do 45 mph in EV mode, but very briefly
That's why I said 'most likely.' Over 42 mph, my scangauge often displays 992 rpm and 9999 MPG when on a downgrade. EV will display under 42 mph both when the traction battery is solely propelling the car and when one is coasting.
